Size Guide
As you shop vintage it’s best to refer to garment measurements rather than marked sizes. To avoid confusion we do not include sizes marked inside the garment, but instead outline detailed garment measurements and a modern size equivalent.
To note, sometimes a garment’s dimensions may be inconsistent with a single modern size. For instance, the bust measurements may equate to a modern size small, and the waist measurements may equate to a medium. In these cases, we will categorize the garment as the smaller size.
Please note, we may pin garments to showcase proper fit on models.
To learn your size you can measure yourself or measure a similar garment you own and wear.

How we measure garments
All measurements are taken in inches with the garment lying flat.
- Please note, bust, waist and hip measurements are doubled.
- Some garments have a bit of elasticity or stretch so we give a measurement range.
- Garments measurements listed as “free” are roomy and will fit most sizes.
Shoulder: From shoulder seam to shoulder seam.
Sleeve Length: From shoulder seam to sleeve cuff.
Bust: From one armpit to the other, then doubled.
Waist: Across the smallest point of the waist, then doubled.
Hips: Across the fullest part of the hips, usually 7-9 inches below the waist then doubled.
Length: From the top of the garment to the hem.
Inseam: For shorts and pants, the entire length of the inner leg, from crotch seam to hem.
Rise: For pants, the waist to the crotch seam.
How to measure yourself
Measure yourself with a soft garment measuring tape. If you don’t have one, improvise with a piece of string, which you can double back and measure with a ruler.
Once you have your measurements, we suggest adding an inch or two for fit and ease of movement. This part is up to you and really depends on your desired fit.
If you prefer, you can visit a tailor or seamstress and request to have your measurements taken.
Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust. If you plan to wear a bra with the item, measure yourself with your bra on.
Waist: Measure around the smallest part of your waist, directly above the belly button and below the ribcage.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, standing with your feet close together.
Tailoring
As each piece is rare, and many pieces are one of a kind, please consider tailoring. We want you to have the pieces you love and many times garments can be altered to fit you perfectly.
